Those of you who ventured out to visit us at the Florida Renaissance festival had the opportunity to go back in history and enjoy all the merriment! This season was the end of a decade for Halley Elise, now hanging up her snood (headwear) and next year may enjoy the festival as a patron and actually get to see a show or two. Meanwhile, you never know . . . you may see Dale next year on site. She has apprenticed with Halley for some time now and got the opportunity to read at the festival. Dale did a fantastic job and all who had a reading with her were pleased. Let’s hear a Huzzah!

As she watched their daughter in her sweet 16 gown, Janet thought about her husband. She missed him especially on special occasions.
She’d love to meet someone . . . .
Janet’s mother’s voice jarred her, “come meet the Baker.”
Janet’s attention went to the tremendous castle standing before her, the cake! Not a mere confectionary, a masterful art-piece; a castle
in spring time with flowers abounding. Fine sculpted columns, turrets standing tall, and lanterns glimmering upon the castle entry. Complete
with a mote and smoke emerging from the fireplace opening.
Janet had wanted the party to be a magical Cinderella story, because China was indeed a princess. She fought well and moved beyond the grief of losing her dad. She accomplished so much. Her grades were
better then perfect and she had extended herself into the community for numerous hours of service. She knew she was loved, yet there was that sadness reflected in the pools of her eyes.
Yes, yes mom, coming. Gertrude made the introductions- Jonathan, I’d like you to meet my daughter. This is the Baker?! Janet’s heart
rate quickened. A tall, handsome man, extended the warmest hand she had ever had the pleasure of shaking. She noticed the intoxicating scents permeating from his clothes; yum. . . cologne, brown sugar and spice.
Two weeks later Jonathan surprised Janet with a personal delivery; a delectable, bouquet made purely of cake and fine chocolates. A week later, it was a shuttle to New York, and then a carriage ride
to central park for a picnic.
Months of intimate moments and tasty treasures, along with mind shifting conversations and laughter till there stomachs ached touched both there hearts, transforming their romance into a real life Happily Ever After. (A version of this story was published in
the Feb Happy Times Monthly paper.)

LAUGH OF THE DAY
One of my fourth graders asked my teacher's assistant,
"How old are you, Mrs. Glass?"
"You should never ask an adult's age," I broke in. "That's okay.
" Harriett smiled. "I'm fifty."
"Wow, you don't look that old," the boy said. I was breathing a
sigh of relief when another child chimed in, "Parts of her do."

AWARENESS
A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully. Before it
blossomed, he examined it. He saw a bud that would soon blossom.
He also saw the thorns, and he thought, "How can any beautiful
flower come from a plant, burdened with so many sharp thorns?"
Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and
before it was ready to bloom, it died.
So it is with many people. Within every soul, there is a rose.
The "God-like" qualities planted in us at birth, growing amidst
the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselves and see
only the thorns, the defects. We despair, thinking nothing good
can possibly come from us. We neglect to water the good within
us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential.
Some don't see the rose within themselves. It takes someone else
to show it to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can
possess is to be able to reach past the thorns and find the rose
within others. This is the truest, most innocent, and gracious
characteristic of love - to know another person, including their
faults, recognize the nobility in their soul, and yet still help
another to realize they can overcome their faults. If we show
them the rose, they will conquer the thorns. Only then will they
blossom, and most likely, blooming thirty, sixty, a hundred-fold,
as it is given to them.
Our duty in this world is to help others, by showing them their
roses and not their thorns. It is then that we achieve the love
we should feel for each other. Only then can we bloom in our own
garden.

A STORY FOR INSPIRATION
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream.
The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food.
The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.
The traveler left rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But, a few days later, he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
"I've been thinking," he said. "I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious.
Please give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me this stone."
